Cheap package holidays

I’ve been looking for a 3/4night beach holiday in Europe for 2 in early July or august, will the prices decrease by a lot if I look much closer to the time at the next week? I’ve been using sites such as Loveholidays, holidayhypermarket - are there any other alternatives (that don’t later add on a fee of 40+ for transfer alone)? Thanks!! Flowers

I've just been looking on jet 2 and plan to book in the next day.

They have some good deals. But depends how cheap. I'm paying £800 for 3 nights. But it's 5*.

But there's plenty on there for less, and everything is included

Seaside Travel advertise short breaks at good prices. ( and other holidays too.)

I have got a week in the US for less than £1k flights and accommodation.
That's extortionate!

@MademetoxicWow! How did you find that?

I couldn't be paid to go to the US.
We're all different.

On the basis that 3 nights in a Premier Inn in London can easily cost more than £600, £800 seems like quite a bargain to me for 3 nights in a 5* hotel. We've all got different budgets at the end of the day.

Is that per person? That's a good price assuming flight included.

Prices really don't go down nearer the dat except out of season. In August holidays get scarcer and dearer ime.

Bjorkdidit · 11/06/2025 10:57

If the £800 5* is for a solo traveller, then it's not surprising as it's going to more than half the price for two people travelling. Plus if it's £200 per night and £200 for the flight incl luggage and transfer, it's not 'extortionate' at all, it's pretty much what you'd expect.

But as for the OP, prices could equally go up or down depending on availability, which could obviously reduce nearer the time. I think for the lowest price, I would look to go in early July, before the school holidays start in England and Wales and be as flexible as possible on dates, destination and which hotel etc.

We've booked under a week before and while it's not cheap cheap, we've always been able something suitable. For a few days in the sun, we generally go on jet2holidays packages because they're usually comparable in price to booking separately and at this time of year, for various reasons, we're generally looking for an easy no stress few days in the sun, that doesn't need too much thought or research, so a package meets this need.

I'd have a look now and if there seems to be plenty of choice, perhaps leave it until you're under 2 weeks before departure date to see if there's any last minute discounts, but if looks like there's not a lot left, or if you spot something you really want, I'd probably bite the bullet and book now as I can't see the price going down by loads at this late stage.
