Lisbon to Seville - too much?

We went to book an all inclusive holiday in Turkey but realised before booking that a week sunbathing sounds like our idea of hell 😂

Much to my DH’s surprise my ideas have gone from an all inclusive (do nothing holiday - remote location) to an activity filled trip starting in Lisbon (3 nights) then flying across to Seville (3-4 nights). Has anyone done this and was it too much?

Our itinerary pretty much consists of walking to see all of the local architecture and eating so I’m confident it is doable but DH raised an eyebrow at the total 360 of our holiday 😂

We stayed in the Algarve before and did daytrips to both Lisbon and Seville. I think you will find 3ish nights in each plenty. I think there is more to do in Lisbon and Seville but they’re not far from each other and both beautiful places

What time of year?

SarahMused · 06/06/2025 08:40

What time of year are you going? Seville is extremely hot in the height of summer. Lisbon is hot too but you are on the coast so can escape to the beach on the train easily enough at Cascais for example. How about Lisbon and Porto? Easy to get from one to the other on the train and 3/4 days in each would be perfect. Both beautiful historic cities with loads to do and access to beaches if it is hot. Spring or Autumn is great for Seville and there are lots of other places you could combine with a trip there in Andalusia.

End of this month! I’m a last minute planner - hence the original idea to do an easy all inclusive 🤦🏼‍♀️

I will look into Porto - it’s the flights that are annoying to work out.

It's only a 4.5 hour drive - could you hire a car?

Plump82 · 06/06/2025 09:01

Lisbon in the heat is also an absolute killer. The inclination of the hills there are unreal!

Any other suggestions? I’m clearly clueless 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

We don’t want to hire a car - neither of us like driving and according to Google, the train is easier. Although, Google did not warn me the temperature in Seville would be in the 40s!

Lisbon combined with Comporta - city and seaside. Or Seville combined with Tavira again city and sea. You could then fly in and out of one airport.

I think you mean 180 lovely, or you’d end up back right where you started … in turkey

anyway sounds great, personally I love a multi center

What about Barcelona or Valencia (city & beach) or Parga, Greece (plenty of day trips ie Meteora, Albania, Paxos)

I've visited Seville in June before. Never again! Love the city but the heat was really oppressive. It would be perfect when the weather is a bit cooler.

Lisbon is a great city - I've only ever visited in Spring though.

I've never been, but have heard good things about Slovenia.
