Would you go solo?

I've got the chance to go away solo for six nights in July. Mediterranean country. Staying in an apartment owned by a friend's parent who lives close by. 10 min walk to the beach and small town with bars and restaurants. 30 mins from the airport. Pool on the complex too.

A week of R&R but on my own. I've never done that type of holiday alone before but I like my own company. Friend's parent would do airport run and be on hand if I needed anything but I'd be left alone to read and relax.

Would you go? DS is 18 and away that week with GF. Dog can go to my parents'. Leave already booked from work. It's affordable.

I'm struggling to think why you wouldn't do this?!

BigDahliaFan · 05/06/2025 15:22

I think I'd get bored somewhere where it was only a beach. If there are buses to other places or trains or I was happy to hire a car then I'd do it. If not I'd probably rather potter around at home on my own.

A week in a friend's city apartment on my own - I'd be there like a shot.

Yes it's brilliant go go go ! Happy holiday.

coxesorangepippin · 05/06/2025 15:28

Er, yes??? Why on earth not??

MoistVonL · 05/06/2025 15:29

Absolutely! I go away on my own twice a year. It does me the world of good

SoScarletItWas · 05/06/2025 15:30

100% I would, and have done (albeit 5 days). It was bliss and I will do it again in future.

Truetoself · 05/06/2025 15:31

Why are you hesitating?

AddictedtoCrunchies · 05/06/2025 16:19

Ok thanks for validating. I've booked the flights and I'm going. Six nights.

The town has plenty of bars and restaurants, paddle boarding and the like. Plus I'll have access to a car so can go off somewhere for the day if I want to.

I will def take them for dinner however I am paying for the apartment as I wouldn't expect it for free. Excited now!

Sounds idyllic - I would go in a heartbeat

Absolutely. I’ve been solo travelling for 15 years (not exclusively) and have never had a bad solo trip. I have had bad holidays with family, ex-boyfriends, friends though.
