UK Accessible & Dog Friendly Recommendations

I must start with a confession, I’ve never actually done a UK holiday. I am woefully ignorant of the best places to go.

This year we would like to do a few days away at a UK location this summer. It must be disability accessible and also dog friendly. Local area for exploring would need to be fairly flat - we can’t go climbing down amazing beachside cliffs as a mobility scooter will be involved.

Any tips and ideas? Anywhere is fine, though central Scotland is where I’m from so that’s somewhere I’ve thoroughly explored and stay regularly with family. Thanks!

I recognize it’s in the middle of one of the hilliest places in the country, but Keswick in the lake district is apparently the most dog friendly place in the country, as is most town centers in the lakes.

Holkham beach in Norfolk has recently got a new accessible boardwalk which runs from the beach car park through the pine forest to a viewing platform overlooking the sand https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/clyw076yw1jo
Holkham beach is one of the few dog-friendly beaches in Norfolk that allows dogs all year, and just up the road, Wells-next-the-Sea is also very dog friendly - they’re allowed on the beach all year round, but there are some restrictions. The Wells Beach Cafe is also known for being highly dog-friendly

New Holkham boardwalk makes nature reserve accessible to all

The wide path has been made using recycled materials and connects the forest and beach at Holkham.

The boardwalk is amazing! Love it when places are this thoughtful about access, it’s brilliant.
