so my mum has offered to take me away in June for a long weekend (thurs to Sunday).

she’s saying she wants me to choose. I’d like to go somewhere not too far so not much flight time to a hotel by the beach with a pool within walking distance to marina, bars and restaurants as I’d like a relax in the day but to have a mooch about in the evenings.

can anyone recommend any destinations? I was wondering about Portugal. I really don’t want to do a lot of exploring I’ve started a new job and sun, sea, sand and some nice food would be optimal.

thanks!

Palma. Short flight, no transfer time, beach and amazing shopping and city. Will be hot though.
krakow will be cooler and cheaper but still an amazing city.

Sardinia? Stay in Cagliari. It’s only 10-15 mins by train or taxi from airport and the beach is nearby. Loads of restaurants and bars.

For a short weekend the main things to look for are sensible flight times and a very short transfer time.

We stay here in Palma- lovely rooftop area and an easy walk to the centre

I would also suggest Alghero in Sardinia and Nice

Crikeyalmighty · 30/05/2025 17:35

@Radiatorvalves actually that’s probably a better suggestion in Sardinia

Palma is lovely. So easy to get there and a lovely place for sun and mooching.

I love Nice, but it's more a city break I feel - but you could fly to Nice (easy) and head to Villefranche (about 20 mins away) or Juan les pins or Antibes and relax there.

I would LOVE a beach break in June, I am very envious!

@mysecretshame yes we go to Majorca most years and always have 2 or 3 nights in Palma part of it - always stay at the hotel I suggested below- it’s modern, fresh, smells gorgeous, well located and not stupid money , fab roof top area plus an indoor spa pool and sauna etc - recommended. It’s right next to the police station too so seems remarkably safe- lol!! We always go for a meal at the Hotel Portixol too - love this really old school classy hotel

Might see if my mum fancies a break in the sun!
We are mid-GCSEs I'd love to get away from it all.

@mysecretshame don’t blame you at all - we are off to Majorca early July - doing a split on adults only in camp de mar, st Elm and Palma ( as always)

EmmaStone · 31/05/2025 09:46

Ooh we stayed in that hotel in Palma too, really lovely!

Also consider Malaga?

Crikeyalmighty · 31/05/2025 10:10

@EmmaStone I always suggest it on here as it’s such a good option if you want ‘a bit city/ a bit chill’ - they do the best aperols on the rooftop too

Crikeyalmighty · 31/05/2025 10:11

@EmmaStone love Malaga too

Chocbuttonsandredwine · 31/05/2025 16:29

Malaga every time

We stayed there last summer and it was great! Good location and a lovely rooftop pool. Breakfast was good too.

Crikeyalmighty · 31/05/2025 19:52

@elizabethcharlotteAh I’m glad so many like this hotel - I find it hard to get city hotels that tick all the boxes at a price that’s not mental so always suggest this one on here

Ihatemondays1962 · 31/05/2025 20:19

I was going to suggest Nice too but as another person mentioned you would need to travel a bit further along the coast to one of the other villages to get a beach - they are not too far out though and the train links are excellent.

IWantAMassiveEasterEgg · 01/06/2025 09:34

Thanks so much for all your brilliant recommendations leaning to Palma currently.
