Disneyland Paris rollercoasters

Hi all,

Going to Disney Paris this summer and have been looking at the rides. My son is 10 and loves mid level rollercoasters - not the big ones. Is there anything like this at Disney? Indiana Jones looks the tamest but he has to be 1.4m for that and he won’t be tall enough. Am I missing anything? It seems like the rides are high thrill or quite babyish with not a lot in between? Sure we will have a great time, just trying to manage his expectations before we go. What did your pre teens enjoy?

Walt Studios might be the better park for him. He’d probably like:
Crush's Coaster
RC Racer
Toy soldiers parachute
Ratatouille
Spider-Man W.E.B. Adventure
Cars rally
Star Tours

Big thunder mountain is probably the only coaster that meets your requirements, the others have corkscrews/upside down loops although I don’t think any of them are necessarily “big thrill” in the same vein as say the velocicoaster at universal in Florida. Mine enjoy them all, Avengers Flight Force and Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain are the top faves (did a quick poll for you) kids range from early teens to junior school age, and they’ve been going to DLP since tiny so have grown up with these coasters.

My personal favourite is definitely Avengers, the Indiana Jones loop makes me feel like my neck snaps!

Big thunder mountain is my 9 years olds favourite . Maybe tower of terror and parachute drop if he doesn't mind drops (aren't rollercoasters). Indiana jones does have a loop but isn't too bad. He would be tall enough for space mountain i think? We love it but does have inversions and a fast launch.

Big Thunder Mountain is closed for renovation for part of this year. Worth checking your exact dates as to whether it will have opened. One of the FB Disney groups will have the details.

Edit to add when Big Thunder reopens, some of the others will close. So maybe try and find a full list and dates?

citrusfruit1 · 30/05/2025 22:51

Thanks for your comments. Yes looks like Big thunder mountain may be closed although I can’t find an exact reopening date. He might do an inversion, but dark, fast launch and inversion is probably a little too much all at once!

Big Thunder Nountain is the tamest coaster, especially compared to Indiana Jones, that has a 360 loop!

Reopens 21st June

DLP is fairly tame and younger audience. There are 2 indoor rollers which are high thrill. Also tower of terror is brilliant fun. The toy soldiers parachute is beyond boring so give that a miss. Crushers coaster is brilliant but LONG queues so if you have magic hour do this then.

My 7 year old loved big thunder mountain and space mountain. She did do avengers (but it was a bit scary for her). I loved avengers though - smoothest ride there

Tiswa · 30/05/2025 23:52

I can do all the Disneyland Paris rollercoasters and I am a mid level person!

Crush Coasters spins - a lot
Thunder mountain best by far for me
Space Mountain/Avengers needed to close eyes but fine
Indiana Jones worse for me

Thunder mountain reopens 21st June. My son is now 11 but we've been a few times and his favourite is avengers flight force then space mountain.
He hated crushes coaster the first time, think spinning tea cups on a roller coaster but now thinks is ok.
Indiana Jones is quite rickety and your head bangs around.
We all love spiderman (not a roller coaster).
You can use the app to see what rides will be closed and there's various Disney paris facebook groups which are really helpful.

Oh reopens in June! Thank you guys - he will be really pleased, this one by far looks the best for us. He might like Crush but I think I’d be sick haha!

Take a travel sickness tablets before you go, I always do after struggling with nausea on a trip to Paultons in the UK. Even the Ratatouille ride has the capacity to make me feel a bit off. I like Crush, despite the spinning. The Avengers and Indiana Jones rides can be a bang your head about a bit, not great for the inner ear. Tower of Terror is my favourite ride.
