Worried about Zika Virus

I found out yesterday I was pregnant,I think at least 3 weeks, unplanned pregnancy. I'm terrified as I'd just returned from India the day before and I'm panicking about Zika Virus. I was bit a couple of times but I tried to take proper precautions with insect repellent and bands. I have no symptoms at all and feel generally ok.I so worried my little baby is going to be sick. Please can someone offer me some reassurance.

Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Gujarat - did you visit these states?

Even if so - it seems very unlikely as the numbers of people getting it are extremely small.

Yes I was in Pune, Maharashtra. I know this has the highest cases in 2024.

Perhaps good to realise that the chances are really really low for your baby to contract anything from Zika.Where I live, Zika is prevalent but despite all the babies being born here, no impact on babies have been reported during all these years. So try to relax as you would know once you have caught Zika. All your muscles and joints would ache tremendously.

For anyone else frantically searching for stuff like this and in pregnancy panic mode… I went through this in 2022 after a GP told me how high risk it was that I’d been away to a Zika country. I then spoke to a very knowledgeable doctor, who literally specialises in tropical diseases at UCLH and because of my mental state, they did the tests for me, whilst also saying to me, you 100% do not have this, it’s very rare. Of course tests came back negative. Lovely Dr told me to remember GP didn’t specialise in tropical diseases (I’ve worded this nicer, it was said in a much better, cooler and bad arse way). But I remember going in here and seeing someone encourage someone else to have an abortion. Madness. For anyone frantically searching these posts, you will be fine.
