Algarve or Canaries?

I’m looking for a warm, beach holiday at the end of October for my pre-teen, DH and I. I’ve narrowed it down to the Algarve or the Canaries based on the fact that they are the warmest parts of Europe in October. Has anyone been to both? Which one is better in terms of beaches, food, family friendly? We like to explore old churches and cute towns/ villages and food wise we love traditional. Would be really grateful of any recommendations. I’ve never been to either so am a bit lost.

I've been to both. Both have exceptional beaches in some areas. In October I would choose the Canaries if you want warm weather. It can be pleasant in the Algarve but it's riskier. The Canaries will be perfect at that time.

I agree with the above. If you want a warm beach holiday, then the Canaries is a better bet. The weather is more likely to be settled and warm at that time of year. The Algarve might be good, but as you are going at the end of the month, it's less likely to be beach weather.

Canaries, we’ve been to Portugal October half term although it was sunny it wasn’t warm enough to go on beach and the sea was cold.
