Hi, I am going to milton keynes in a few weeks for a concert with my family (2 adults and 2 kids). We are staying at the novotel in milton keynes for 5 nights. I am wondering if anyone can recommend nice places to eat that are nearby and child friendly. Thanks xxx

There is a lot of choice in MK - there's the theatre district, the centre, the Xscape and more places to eat all over the place.

Another vote for Old Beams, its so nice. Also The Swan Inn in Milton Keynes Village and a new Hickories has opened up at Caldecotte, it's my new favourite place. The Warbler on the Wharf is also great

Novotel isn't very central so you would be looking at taxis no matter what really. I use the Bolt app, never had an issue. Nothing in MK takes longer than 15 minutes really so everywhere pretty accessible. There is a nice pub relatively close to your hotel called the Black Horse. Gorgeous old building with a great outside space on the canal. Can't vouch for the food, havent eaten there in years but used to be good

If you like Chinese, go to Taipan in the theatre district or Kam Tomg Gardens in Great Holm. The Italian at Furzton lake is also meant to be very nice.

They sound lovely, I will look them up, thanks. Do any of you lovely people know what gulivers land is like? We are thinking of taking the kids there, thanks xx

It’s a bit run down, but you can often find offers on Wowcher and Groupon to make it better value.
If your kids are good walkers, you should be able to get to the city centre in about 20 minutes. Unfortunately public transport from there is pretty dire, so Skyline is your next best option.

I will look into that, it was just for something to do for a day out, we are thinking of going to the maze garden thingy as well. Skyline is what I used when I was down last year with just my husband and they seemed pretty good. Thanks for your help. Xx

I agree - Gulliver’s Land isn’t great (very young children might enjoy it, but not tweens or older). There is an inflatable obstacle course on Willen Lake which some kids love - Aqua Parcs. The lake itself is also nice to walk around, great playgrounds and a high ropes course there too.

If they are that age check out Xscape with snowdome and indoor skydiving. There's also several bowling alleys in MK, two indoor crazy golf's, one in Xscape and one in the theatre district over the road, plus an escape room up there as well. There's also outdoor crazy golf over near Two Mile Ash.

I think there's at least three escape room places. There's also a Ninja Warrior course on an industrial estate somewhere, and of course if the kids are at all interested in World War 2, there's Bletchley Park www.bletchleypark.org.uk/

I actually had a look at the ww2 museum online and it looked really good, think the oldest would be into going there. Sounds like we will have plenty to do in between going to the concert. Thank you xx

Ye olde swan in woughton on the green is always my go to pub.

If you go into the escape go and watch the sky diving tunnel, spent many a wet afternoon there when my kids were small just watching. They found it fascinating!

There is a Cineworld in escape too. There is also a few cheap and cheerful weatherspoons in the city.

Bletchley Park is amazing, I absolutely love it there. Taken the kids several times

There's honestly so much to do in MK, it's great 😆

O have looked that pub up and it looks really nice, think we will go there for lunch on one of the days. When I was in milton keynes with just my husband last year we got an air b and b in the hub and walked down to one of the wetherspoons for breakfast every morning, we actually bumped into some Scottish guys that live there 😆 🤣

There’s also a Museum of Computing next door to Bletchley Park- quite interesting with all the old consoles etc.

Oh and if you fancy something central I like Cosy Club in the shopping centre. Cute art deco place with good cocktails and nice food
