Anyone been to Santander?

Has anyone been to Santander and do you have any recommendations of what area is best to stay in?

Would like to be walking distance to the beach, restaurants etc and not too far from the airport

Yes, I love Santander. There are various hotels near the beach. I like the Silken Rio but the are other options if you want to spend more or less. The beach area has a few restaurants or there are loads more in the old town which isn't far. The airport is only about 20 minutes away by bus.
