Maldives island - speedboat transfer & house reef

Does anyone have any suggestions for a Maldives Island that is a speed boat transfer from Male, that is family friendly and has a good house reef?

Lily Beach. It's nearly 20 years ago that we went, but it was perfect. 🐠

I’ve been to the Maldives a few times and I’m not sure many of the islands are family friendly, unless you have kids that want to sunbathe or are happy playing in the sand and swimming. The island’s nice been to didn’t really have anything for kids to do.

summer island is nice with a 45 minute speedboat transfer from Male. As for a reef, there’s not that many about these days, the last one I went to was all bleached white without much marine life. We ended up taking a boat trip to one that was further out.

I've been to Bandos 5 times (I live close to the Maldives ❤️) and it's only a 15 minute supper boat ride away. It's almost 50 years old and one of the original wild developed islands, not man made. It's not as fancy as some islands BUT it's amazing value and absolutely lovely.

Bandos is a good shout, also look at Kurumba.

Atmosphere Kanifushi is a sea plane transfer, I have stayed there. It is an excellent island though. Quite a large island with no house reef. The daily snorkel trips took you to good reefs though. The resort also had multiple restaurants, excellent food loved Just Veg.

Just to add the good thing about atmosphere Kanifushi is they have family villas. From memory they are basically two villas with two bathrooms, but classed as one so cheaper than getting two separate villas which is especially good if you have more than 1 or 2 children, as rooms in the Maldives often have a maximum capacity of 3 sharing.

Oblu Sangele Select satisfies both house reef and speed boat from Male. There are 2 bedroom villas as far as I know.

Budget dependent Waldorf Astoria is amazing.

Would second Oblu Select Sangeli.

Also Oblu Select Helengeli is a speedboat transfer, has family rooms and has a brilliant house reef.

Huge choice of rooms ( we had the sunrise beach villa , next door had a family of 3 in theirs , but there were much bigger villas available )
