Australia visa

Has anyone applied for an ETA for Australia at the same time also applying for the evisitor visa?
I have very stupidly left applying for my visa very late and I fly on Friday!! I applied for the evisitor one and the status is “submitted “ so not even received yet. I have applied for this visa before and it came back approved in minutes. Can I apply for an ETA as well?

I think you only need one - what’s the difference between them? When I traveled to Australia I applied for the ETA. Like you I left it to the last-minute. In my case, the day before, because I completely forgot I needed it! Applied online the day before my flight. Went to bed full of anxiety thinking I wouldn’t be able to travel because the website said to allow three days. When I woke up in the morning it had come through! Much relief. There is an Australian ETA app that I downloaded and kept on my phone while I was there just in case I needed to show it, but once through the airport it wasn’t needed until I left.

Thank you for your advice. As I’ve already applied for the evisitor visa, do you think I can still apply for the ETA and hope one of them arrives before Friday?

I would maybe consult a travel agent or the airline you're flying with. They'll have the best advice. Australia is strict imo and they might question you applying for two separate visas which could delay things further.

Has anyone else had an application status of submitted for a period of time before the status changed to “received “?

I once had to apply for a tourist visa while the person travelling was on his way to the airport! Paid £70 for fast track and he had it with him 2 hrs later. Has the website given you any indication of turnaround time? Tourist visas like the one you need for Australia should be turned around pretty quickly.

By lunchtime today, the evisitor visa still hadn’t come through so I applied for the ETA visa and it arrived 2 minutes after I submitted it!!! Woo hoo!!!! What a relief
