Travelling off to Brittany / Vendee next month and want to pack a little bag each for children to keep them entertained. What would you keep in it to keep them from becoming bored?

lots of small toys, not too noisy. Snacks and nibbles, a tray some paper and crayons to colour. Something new so it's has their interest.

How old are they?

Story tapes (or cds if you're car is more with it) for the car radio. You can get them from your local library.

Mine (4 and 6) love anything by Roald Dahl or Pippi Longstocking.

Tip;
don't choose anything by an author you've hated to read. Remember, you have to listen to it too....

Have you got an old lap top that will play DVDs? I bought an incar power converter for a tenner so my laptop runs off the car battery cigarette lighter thingy, and a double headphone socket for £2. I wedge it between the two front seats and ta-da! the kids can watch DVD's and peace and quiet for me!!

Cheaper than buying a car DVD player.

Ah x posts. Bum.

You need a bag of your own. With things to do to entertain them once they have lost the will to entertain themselves.
Have you done the trip before? Can you do "The next thing we are looking for is a sign for "Aire de thingummybob" ".
Counting 2CVs.
1st one to see a blue/red/purple lorry.

Oh and sat nav for you. So much more pleasant than fighting with maps.

( and I do mean both versions of 'fighting with')
