UK resorts with Kids

Has anyone stayed at a family-friendly resort they’d genuinely recommend? I’m after somewhere with plenty of activities for young kids, great food, and ideally a bit of comfort for the grown-ups too!

We’re currently looking at options in the Lake District and Cornwall for an August holiday, but open to other UK spots as well. Would love to hear what’s worked for you!

My DS loved Tenby as a kid, has everything you mention. He also loved Whitby and the Northumberland coast.

This tends to be looked down on here, but we went to Butlins at Minehead several times when DS was young, between around 6 and 12. We had one of their apartments (don’t go with the cheapest) and either did easy food ourselves (big Tesco nearby) or we ate out in Minehead rather than at Butlins but it’s brilliant if the weather’s not good. If you are lucky and the sun shines then there is a huge beach, mini golf, a steam railway, easy access to exmoor and visits to Dunster (it has a castle, I think the little railway goes there), Porlock and Lynmouth. There is a variety of accommodation options at Butlins,
I wouldn’t imagine the most expensive are worth the cost but don’t go for cheapest either. There used to also be some privately owned caravans on the site which people let out sometimes, don’t know if that’s still the case.

How old are your kids? If the younger end I’d definitely recommend Bluestone in Wales. Love it and will go back often (Might be good for older kids too but I don’t have them so can’t say for sure!)

@BuffaloCauliflower My kids are 1 and 5, so I'm looking for activities for the older one. I've had a look at Bluestone – it has a bouncy castle, which is brilliant.

@Fifi80 its got an inflatable obstacle course bit more than a bouncy castle. But pool is great for small ones, indoor play area (The Hive) outdoor play area, the Serendome has play area, water play and sand play all under a dome roof so doesn’t matter what the weathers doing. My 2 and 4 year olds have lots to entertain them.

We've just been to haggerston castle haven. Is great for kids so much to do. Lots of entertainment and bars for adults too
