With a baby what is best?? Like the idea of breakfast every morning but also like the idea of having larger area with kitchen living area x

Think about the evenings not the mornings. If baby is small enough that they will sleep in a pram whilst your out for dinner hotel. Once their of an age where they have to go to bed when you don’t want to self catering so you can sit and talk to other half with wine.

We always did self catering in France when kids were small, more space for a start and you didn’t have to go out for every meal. Always had a balcony or outside space for hanging out in the evening as @Attictroll suggested. When we just had DS1 he would often nap over lunchtime so we stocked up with seafood/bread/cheese in the morning and enjoyed a chilled lunch while he slept then headed back out for the afternoon.

You can get both in an aparthotel. Many hotels have a restaurant and also at least a kitchenette in the room and offer anything from SC to AI.

You'd probably also benefit from a balcony or terrace that you can use to relax on in the evenings or other times when baby is napping.

I don't eat much in the evenings so my preference is a breakfast buffet as late as possible eg about 9.30 then go out for the day, with a restaurant lunch mid afternoon, which is lunchtime in Spain at least. Then just something light in the evening whether out and about or cheese, olives and wine on the balcony.

Self catering but book somewhere that is in a good location and close to lots of bars and restaurants. We always go self catering but have never cooked on holiday
