Where in Greece?

If you're knowledgeable about holidays to the Greek Islands, please help! We are a family of 6 (me and my partner, 4 kids ranging from 5-15). We would love to visit greece this year but have no clue where to start. We'd like to be able to visit nice beaches, do watersports (SUP, paddleboarding, that kind of thing) as well as having the option to visit some more cultural places on a couple of days. As there are 6 of us a villa and SC seems the best option. However as I look for these, I also see the big AI resorts would suit us well 🙈 and by the time we factor in feeding our 4 you can see where I'm going with this. So far have checked out Lefkada, skiathos and looked at more resort style places on Rhodes and Crete. All look good. Kids are great eaters so eating more adventurous food is not a problem. Where do we start!?? Help!

What's your budget? You've left it really late unless it's large!

Too late do you think? Usually we visit family in Portugal but have decided somewhere different this year. Budget...that depends who you ask 🤣 depends on what kind of value we can find for the AI versus SC villa debate. Looking at 6-7K tops but that would need to include everything, all the finer details.

Crete is beautiful, lovely food, beaches and historical sights

Set AirBnB to the whole of the region, set your criteria and see what comes back. We found a great place on Andros doing that. Private beach, no other properties in sight and a short drive to a taverna on an island we knew nothing about previously. Unlikely you'll end up somewhere you won't end up really enjoying, especially if you find a gem of a villa or property to use as a base.

Rhodes

As you are a little last minute I would start with flight availability, go on skyscanner and do whole greece. Look at dates and costs, then you may have narrowed down your options. No point falling involve with a Villa or hotel to discover flights are all booked or really expensive.

Corfu is great for families as it has a bit of everything, you can also do trips to other Ionian islands from there. It has at least one water park - great for teenagers. Rhodes tends to have lots of villas etc at reasonable prices but I find it a bit of a rock in the sea, not pretty. Grete also has the advantage of 2 airports and being a big island lots to do. Ancient sites too. If the winds are in the right direction it can be a little cooler too, but not always.

Fyi I look for villas for clients, feel free to DM if you want help. No pressure.
