I much prefer Benalmadena. Hotel Best Siroco is nice (nothing fancy, but we liked it!). The food was surprisingly good too for half board.

I went to Torremolinos for the day while staying inland and didn't like it but have heard good things about Benalmadena so perhaps that's a better choice.

What are you looking for from the holiday? Where have you enjoyed previously?

Twilightstarbright · 19/05/2025 06:37

Benalmadena hands down

PrincessHoneysuckle · 19/05/2025 06:51

Hated Benalmedena so I'd say Torromelinos

I've been to both and tbh its not my kind of holiday. However if you stay off the front and go to the "upper" part of town I think Benalmadena is a bit more attractive. We stayed.in Hotel Sirico. The best area to eat is Bonanza Square, and on hot days the big public park is lovely. Málaga is very easy to get to by train (which we preferred, and will visit again).

I do like Torremolinos but we only visit in the winter, I imagine it has a very different vibe during the summer. We stay in the centre so we get easy access to Malaga with the train station. Personally I don’t like the main part of Benalmadena, but it’s quite a large place and I don’t know the beachfront areas to the west. Benalmadena Pueblo is very pretty but you may find you spend a lot of time travelling down to the beach, the bus seems to spend a long time getting through Benalmadena town.

I like La Carihuela area which is between Torremolinos and Benalmadena Marina. It has a long beach front with plenty of eateries along its length but the streets behind are more traditional, less high rise.

I Have just booked a holiday with a friend and have been looking at a few hotel reviews for the Benalmadena area and Benalmadena Palace hotel seemed to come out well, it has apartments and is up a hill but runs a courtesy bus to the beach. We didn’t book it in the end as we went for an adults only one but I do recommend checking out reviews of anywhere before you book though as some hotels had a lot of poor reviews.

hi thanks for replies. We have been to salou and albuferia before and liked both as they are busy resorts, plenty of restaurants and little shops to stroll and browse into.
Since hotel siroco was mentioned is that near the main strip etc. I heard benalmadena place is way out

We went to Benalmadena and really liked it. Tivoli world, the massive park, Cable cars and a day trip to Gibraltar. We were not bored!

loopsngeorge · 20/05/2025 17:37

La Carihuela is a great location between the two and has a couple of really nice pedestrianised streets next to the beach The Pez Espada is a lovely hotel there although i would do bed and breakfast and eat out for dinner. We have been to the area many times in October half term and liked aspects of both of them for that time of year as there is plenty to do if yhe weather is not so good plus there is easy access to Malaga by public transport . If you're looking at summer time I think places like Nerja or possibly Estepona are far more scenic and would look there.

If you go to the Siroco, or any of the 'Best' group of hotels, check the price with a package company and also check booking direct and booking your flights separately. The train from the airport to Arroya is quick, efficient and cheap. It is a few minutes walk down hill from the station to the hotel, but a taxi would only be a few euros. We saved a couple of hundred pounds and we got a room upgrade at the hotel too. Half board was only a little more expensive than bnb, so we booked hb, and ate out a couple of times. The hotel has a lovely small garden as well as the pool.
