Would you pay £65 for an extra leg room seat?

Flying on an Economy day flight which is near 12 hours long. An extra legroom seat £65 each. Me and dp are travelling so £130. On the return there are no extra legroom seats left.

We usually fly Premium Economy but it was £1,000 extra each and we were tied to specific dates.

Is £65 each worth it?

For a 12 hour flight, I absolutely would.

Sprig1 · 18/05/2025 21:24

Yes

Ezzee · 18/05/2025 21:28

12 hour flight, absolutely, it's a killer even with extra leg room.

Crunk · 18/05/2025 21:30

God yes! I pay for leg room for any flight longer than 2 hours and £65 is a bargain!

MumChp · 18/05/2025 21:31

For a 12 hour fight, yes, I would.

abracadabra1980 · 18/05/2025 21:39

Yep.

Maddy70 · 18/05/2025 21:39

Yes for a long flight

imsosotired · 18/05/2025 21:40

Also yes!

Spirallingdownwards · 18/05/2025 21:42

Yes

user2848502016 · 18/05/2025 21:46

I wouldn’t but I’m quite short so never find legroom a problem even on Ryanair!
I do think £65 is worth it for a 12h flight though if you’re taller

UmopapIsdn · 18/05/2025 21:48

No. Because I’m 4' 10" and every seat has extra leg room when you can rarely touch the floor with your feet! Grin

Normal height I’d definitely do it!

GuiltyPleasure · 18/05/2025 22:20

For that length of flight I’d absolutely do it, that’s a bargain price for the additional comfort

QueenofLouisiana · 18/05/2025 22:22

Yes! We’ve paid £100 each for extra space on our flights to Aus in the summer. I’m sure by hour 5 we’ll be very thankful.

Twiglets1 · 18/05/2025 22:23

Yes worth it and cheap compared to Premium Economy.

CrushingOnRubies · 18/05/2025 22:24

12 hour flight absolutely.

beccahamlet · 18/05/2025 22:27

Yes! However, on some flights the extra leg room seats are marginally narrower. You can check on seat guru.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 19/05/2025 11:33

Gosh yes - compared to the price of an upgrade, absolutely, no brainer.

gianfrancogorgonzola · 19/05/2025 11:39

I would pay the £1k to upgrade tbh. 12 hours?!

Badbadbunny · 19/05/2025 11:40

Yup, and we're not particularly tall either. "Normal" seats are bad enough on short haul, but I'd simply not travel if we couldn't have extra legroom seats for long haul.

Frateletheboss · 19/05/2025 11:40

Im a stinge so no. And I would console myself while legs were cramping by thinking about the money I saved

Yes, thinking about it, for 12 hours, I'd probably pay the extra £1k as well.

LilDeVille · 19/05/2025 11:42

DEFINITELY. £65 is nothing if you're paying to travel that far. Think of it as £130 vs the £1000 saving had you gone business class.

Kittybakes89765 · 19/05/2025 11:58

Depends on the airline. We paid for extra leg room with BA from mexico on the return flight and it was considerably worse. There was no overhead compartment so our bags were miles away, but no pocket as no seat in front so no where to put your stuff either. We actually got shouted at for not putting away the pillow and blanket for takeoff that staff had just put on our seats. There was no where to put them

We measured the seats and they were narrower than an easyjet shorthaul seat. Also the tables and tvs came up out of the seats and just made the space seem even smaller. We'd have been better not bothering.

I'd try and find reviews for those seats on that airline before upgrading

TheNightingalesStarling · 19/05/2025 12:23

£5 per hour per person. I've got a dodge knee so yes!

Poopeepoopee · 19/05/2025 12:25

I have all the upgrades going. I'm too old to travel uncomfortatbly.

I'm also only 5 foot but want to be as comfortable as i possible can.
