Evening all!
I am looking for recommendations for a 3 to 4 night break for my 50th Birthday.
Flying from either Manchester, Leeds Bradford or East Midlands.
Ideally no longer than a 4 hour flight time.
Thinking probably late May to early July 2026 (flexible on this, could go later in the year).

I would recommend Alicante City, it’s beautiful, and very Spanish, not many English people as they all fly in and go to the Costas, we had a great trip for our 25th wedding anniversary, would love to go back, there is a beach, marina, wonderful shopping, great transportation, arts, architecture. Well worth a visit.

Porto, Budapest, Prague, Bratislava, Vienna

Agree Alicante is lovely, also Malaga .

San Sebastián in northern Spain is our go to place. Fly to Bilbao or Biarritz. It is foodie heaven with gorgeous beaches.

I took my friends to Barcelona for mine and had an amazing weekend. Other great weekend trips: Lisbon, Nice, Naples, Madrid, Valencia, Malaga, Prague, Budapest, Seville, Granada, Salamanca. Personally not mad on either Porto nor Vienna - found them completely lacking in ambience. Seville remains my top favourite - I've been a few times but would always go back . Prague is still beautiful but has got very busy.

I’ll throw in Venice and Dubrovnik.

Ohthatsbeikkiant · 16/05/2025 20:41

Madrid, Budapest and Seville

I’d go Taormina (fly to Sicily from Leeds Bradford) in May.

Thank you all so much! Lots of options here - I've got a good night googling ahead of me tonight:)

Recently did Malaga for three nights, stunning city, beach, all close to airport so quick to Uber in and out and very cheap to eat and drink! Would highly recommend x

murcia is also lovely.
I also agree with Alicante and Malaga

Seville
Barcelona
Prague

I think Seville would be a great option. Great architecture, restaurants, feeling. It is VERY hot in summer so it would be better / cheaper option in low season. I also recommend Valencia and Madrid (Prado museum is a gem, lovely plazas, restaurants, el ritero park is a lovely oasis). I'll be honest and say I was underwhelmed by Barcelona ( I'm in the minority on this, I know). Barcelona is seemingly more famous for pick pockets but perhaps that has changed.

Florence is great but July may be too hot for just sightseeing.

Stockholm, Berlin, Prague, Munich

Thanks again everyone - absolutely delighted to get so many different recommendations:)
