I know this isn’t a travel agents but after some suggestions..

I’m on a serious hunt for a two week family holiday me, my partner and 4yo (will be nearly 5)

we want to explore somewhere new we’ve done the below and loads more but these are the ones Google keep suggesting for best family destinations:
Mexico
Thailand
Bali
Dubai
Egypt
Turkey
Morroco

where have you been/would love to go?

thanks in advance xx

Barbados?

reluctantbrit · 14/05/2025 07:40

Depends on the time of travel. Certain areas can be too hot/too rainy/too stormy.

Also, what do you want to do, travel around, sit at the pool, do tours from one location?

I personally wouldn't touch Egypt or Dubai.

We loved Barbados. I would happily go back to Thailand and friends told good things about Bali and Costa Rica.

Really depends on the time of year and budget.

I love Portugal. The far end of the Western Algarve is beautiful- Lagos, Sagres and Praia da Luz (which is actually part of Lagos). The middle of Portugal is lovely too - I've stayed in a surfers town called Nazaré and explored the region - Alcobaça has a beautiful old monastery and lots of shops and restaurants. Even in August, it wasn't crowded

We loved Cyprus & Greece x

What kind of holiday are you after? Relaxing? Adventures?I personally would stick to Europe, Crete, Croatia,Sicily, Majorca, Italy

fruitypancake · 14/05/2025 14:52

we did a Croatian island hop last year, it was amazing

Dinoswearunderpants · 14/05/2025 14:54

So many options!

You could do a week long cruise then tag time before/after the cruise. Great if embarkation and disembarkation locations differ.

Costa Rica.

Greek island hopping.

European road trip. Take the ferry/Eurotunnel then drive and explore France, Germany, Belgium, Holland etc. Could even drive down to Italy.

rosydreams · 14/05/2025 15:00

do you want to go to Italy or Greece for something scenic and historical or something fun like salou for the little one

minipie · 14/05/2025 15:01

What time of year? If I had a 4 nearly 5 year old I’d be trying to get away this June before you are stuck with school holiday crowds and peak prices!

I wouldn’t bother with long haul in European summer, not with a 4 year old.

Croatia is a good destination for 2 weeks, there’s a lot to see and do. Slovenia and Istria is a good combination too if you want something a bit different. Or Greek island hopping? Or a road trip in France, stops at Disney, Loire, Dordogne, Carcassone, end at the Cote d’Azur.

Wow thanks for all the replies I definitely should have specified! So we’re looking for something between January- April next year so something long haul, mixture of adventure and resort relaxing. Budget between 3-4000

I would either go to Asia or Costa Rica then.

minipie · 14/05/2025 19:58

With a 4 year old January to April, long haul, hmm, Malaysia or Thailand perhaps? Or Australia but might be a bit far.

minipie · 14/05/2025 19:59

Oh actually South Africa could be amazing. Visit the non malarial safari parks, whale watching, penguins, Cape Town, Table Mountain, Garden route. With a little time on Mauritius to finish off.

Beccin · 14/05/2025 20:03

Love Mexico, have a dd the same age as yours and we love it. Great weather, people, resorts. Have been several times. The only downside is the long flight (and sometimes there is a lot of seaweed, although this varies).

For 3-4K?

minipie · 14/05/2025 22:04

Oh fair point, missed that

I’m looking at Luz for next year’s holiday. Do you think aircon is a necessity in August in a villa? We went to Burgau ten years ago and I remember it being really windy at night.
