Recommendations for hotel / resorts etc with heated pool for young families in Oct half term

Looking for something suitable for young DC and plenty to do, in a warm location October half term. Ideally southern Greece / Crete / Malta or similar where we will be able to get some sunshine still. Not too much of a fan of Canaries as we find them a bit characterless, unless anyone has any surprising suggestions. A nice 4* ish place (hotel / villa etc) nice pools etc etc, but crucially not a freezing cold swimming pool!

I think med is definitely not reliable weather in October though it’s def possible to get lucky.

Turkey is your best bet if you are discounting canaries.

slightly further afield pools are def still warm in October/november in Egypt but I wouldn’t necessitate recommend Egypt

Thanks. I’m not keen on Egypt. Happy to look anywhere but probably don’t want long haul this time around. Interested in Malta but don’t know what it’s like in Oct.

Any specific recommendations around hotels etc either heated pools?

I often recommend Puerto Rico/ Puerto de mogan here. Lots of pools heated and the area is not characterless. Puerto de mogan is very pretty.

The weather can still be nice in the Med in October (with the odd storm), but there's only 9 hours of daylight, with sunset at 6:30pm, and the sun gets pretty watery from 4pm. That does mean that you don't have to worry about the fourth all-over application of factor 50, but it's not the best time for a lie-and-fry holiday.

Not many places in the Med have heated outdoor pools, and I don't know of a Booking dot com search term for them.😢 I know of only a couple in Majorca that aren't €500/night for a double room range.😮

On the plus side, the sea will still be quite warm because it cools down much more slowly after the summer heat. It can easily be 24°, which is about 3° more than the warmest the English Channel ever gets.

Dubai or even Yas Island Abu Dhabi.

I know Creta Maris in Crete as a few heated pools

The Canaries can vary quite a lot- in Lanzarote if you avoid PDC it’s pretty and they have banned high rise buildings so it doesn’t look like a concrete jungle.

Turkey?

Ok, if we looked at Canaries is it possible to find somewhere pretty without “Brits Abroad” fry ups etc?

@landscaper80puerto de mogan. So pretty and I’ve never found it brits abroad.

We went to this hotel in Tunisia last October.

genuinely the best AI I’ve been to. Beautiful pools, amazing food. Customer service was outstanding. And the weather was excellent. A steady 28C. The pools and sea were warm.

in general you are only going to get hot weather in Tunisia, Turkey and the Canaries in October.
