Dh has a big birthday coming up and fancies a sauna/thermal spa type place...
Looked at Erding near Munich but he really fancies staying on site and the accommodation looks either expensive for what it is ..or basic self catering....so not very special..
I've found a couple of places in Poland but its harder to work out what the accommodation is like..

Has anyone been to any thermal baths type resort tgat have a wide range of saunas/thermal waters .not fancy massage type.. that have nice hotels to stay at! Decent food and preferably not too long a flight and some other options for trips/sightseeing..

4nights probably...budget almost less of an issue

Ooh some good places to check out... He doesn't fancy Budapest as has been before and they are generally small6... Its the big multiplex sort of thing that appeals...
One we can get the train to even better...

They're not natural waters, but the Dutch do big spas which are at the end of the Eurostar. The country is so small you can always do some culture as well. This one was sauna of the year on one sauna guide and has a hotel. You can get to Wiesbaden fairly easily by train for natural waters and go wine tasting on the Rhein.

This is in Belgium on the outskirts of Brussels. It was clean and well run, friendly staff. There are naked and swim suited areas. I didn’t sleep there but I would imagine the accommodation is of a similar high standard to the spa.

@Paaseitjes Last time we went we stayed here. I could have moved in permanently! All mod cons, but with daily cleaning. And 5 mins from the port and restaurants. No spa on the premises but you can go to the Negombo or Poseidon spas for the day.

came here to recommend the same one, my favourite in the region.

Just in case, note that saunas in Germany are mixed and 'textile free', as they say.

I have enjoyed Erding when I have gone. There are 24 saunas to choose from! As mentioned, easy to get to from locations nearby, even from Munich if you stayed there.

Tauern Spa in Kaprun, near Zell am See, Austria. Easy, and free, 90 minute transfer from Salzburg Airport (and free public transport in the whole of Salzburgerland this summer).

As well as the spa there is the Kitzsteinhorn glacier with fantastic views, and the beautiful lakeside location of Zell am See.

We've gone for the Romanian one as we've not been to Bucharest.... Money saved on relatively cheap flights and spa have spent on lovely hotel..

Have definitely book marked some of these for future trips though...
