Hi all,

Holiday for me and DC 16. 2 weeks - mid range accommodation, beach, rain forest, national park, San Jose. Trailfinders quoting 6k including flights, transfers, some activities, full board for a couple of days in rainforest.

Is this reasonable? Thank you

We paid £17k through TUI for six of us for two weeks at Christmas ‘23/‘24 - four nights in Arenal/Monteverde and 10 days on the coast. That included flights, transfers, guide, activities for first four days and breakfast, but no other meals; and all inclusive beach hotel but no activities. It was an amazing trip and worth every penny (even if we can never go on holiday again 😂)

6k for two weeks including flights? That sounds incredibly cheap to me!

Agreed! DH and I are looking at Costa Rica and it's coming out more expensive than that.

I’d say that is pretty reasonable OP. I was last there 6 years ago for 3 weeks and I think I probably spent £2.5k or so (I went on my own) for similar but I booked everything individually and some of the accommodation was lower end.

I gave them a budget of 4-5k…

Very reasonable!! CR is pretty expensive , we did 3 weeks travelling around as a family of 3 (hire car and did all the activities we could) and probably spent £12-15 k all in.

It’s amazing though! Money well spent!

Yes for what you want that I think probably is the price given they have gone over budget everything is expensive nowadays

CR is expensive, so sounds very good deal. Hope you have a great trip.

I think it depends on what time of year you’re going. I’m going this summer, me and 3 teenagers and I’ve booked it all separately. The flights were £3k, accommodation is £1.5k, car hire £650. We’re going for 10 nights, splitting it between La Fortuna and a beach location on the pacific side.

We are staying at Air BnB’s and I plan to self cater as much as possible. Looking at what activities we want to do and how much food etc will cost, I imagine the whole trip will come in at max £8k (hoping it’ll be a little less). So less per person than what you’re being quoted. I have organised it all myself and I’m happy to travel in the wet season, which cuts the price down a bit, and I’ll limit the amount of guided tours we have. Have you looked at DIY and compared prices?

Well done for organizing. This is for first two weeks of July. It’s useful to know you are expecting 2k per person for 10 days. I would expect mine to be a bit more through an agent, so including activities and full board for a couple of days and 14 nights in total, it sounds like it’s not loads more . That is what I wanted to check
