Canaries this summer

I never really fancied the Canaries but I went to Gran Canaria last September on a cheap deal and loved it. I really liked the landscape (that surprised me) and the sea. I was in Puerto Rico which is a bit touristy but fun.

I would like to go back but I don't know where I should go. I want to take my husband who has little tolerance for the typical Brit abroad. However he likes going out and eating, seeing the sights etc. The "posh" hotel in my last resort would be too far out for him.

Any suggestions? Nice bars and places to eat, bit of charm, near the sea. i am open to the other islands but not a fan of black sand.

La Gomera sounds like it would be a good fit for you if you don't want the tourist towns. La Calera beach is white sand.

Puerto de Mogan might be a good option. It is small and touristy but has a lovely marina and charm about it.

Thank you both. I did a trip to Puerto de Morgan actually and that was the sort of place that might work. It just seemed a bit small maybe for a first trip.

Playa Blanca Lanzarote could work for you.
Or Fuerteventura is generally quieter than the other islands and has white sand beaches

Thanks. I don’t think quieter is what I’m looking for. It’s just less Benidorm and more Antibes (which DH has done to death).

Now all the search engines are AI it’s impossible to get any sense out of them and the Canaries tourist board is so hyperbolic it’s no help either.
