Winter Sun - early Jan, please recommend!

Hoping to escape for some winter sun. Have been to the Canaries at a similar time and enjoyed this, but fancy a change of scene.

Not got a massive budget (£1500pp ideally). Would prefer to be near/on a beach and a smaller hotel if possible. Only adults going, so don’t need kids clubs.

Any recommendations gratefully received please, and opinions on whether going all inclusive is worth it.

Thank you 😁

Madeira or Morocco (Essaouira)

I would never go all-inclusive as we like to get out and about. However, we’ve just got back from Madeira and stayed at the Savoy Palace which is massive and has 6 good restaurants on site so that could work but I doubt you’d get it in budget.

We tend to stick to the Canaries for reliable winter sun. We also visited Madeira loved but it was very windy, definitely had better weather in Lanzarote. Also Madeira is very hilly, I mean VERY hilly, so if you are considering Madeira I would recommend staying the Lido area, Estrada Montumental is flatter than a lot of resorts and very close to central Funchal. Not been to Morocco, but I would imagine it would be a little cooler than the Canaries in January. Personally not a fan of all inclusive unless you are talking IKOS type standard, I am not a fan of buffet style dining generally (due to mobility issues) and prefer to order off a menu and have branded drinks etc. Good luck choosing hopefully someone can offer more suggestions.

We went to Morocco this January but stayed in Marrakesh. It was cold at night but warm during the day. Essouira would probably be cooler and windy, though.

Thanks all - maybe the Canaries are the best bet. It’s always been great when I’ve been and has the convenience of flights from the local airport.

Madeira also looks lovely, as does Morocco, so some great ideas 😊

For up to £3000 total inc flights you could go to Mexico which is good in January at for example Fairmont Mayakoba
