You need the things you normally need plus somewhere to sleep and, if using a car, a car seat. Most hotels will provide a travel cot on request and ditto you can usually hire a car seat with a hire car. You may choose to take yours with you and some baby items are usually free (check with your airline. An all in one SPF suit and SPF sunhat would be a good idea if you don’t have one since baby is too young for sunscreen. ETA take your own cot sheets, an extra large muslin works if you don’t have any.

Check what your hotel/accommodation can provide in the way of travel cot, changing mat, steriliser etc

Note travel cot mattresses can be very thin- more of a board than a mattress. You might want to bring something to pad it.

Blackout shade for buggy so you can (hopefully) get them to sleep while you eat dinner. Or at least a large muslin and clips to cover up.

Portable fan that clips to buggy might be an idea, though we never had one

Baby carrier/sling for if you want to go places that aren’t buggy friendly, also for the plane journey when you don’t have the buggy back yet

Calpol and a thermometer, clip on fan for the pushchair. Large muslins as they are quite cool.

How did your 8 week old get on? I’m looking at taking my soon to be 8 week old away for 3 nights to Italy and quite nervous so not sure what to do

A dream to be honest! Just used our tent and pram to keep in the shade, the flight I gave him a bottle on take off and landing to help with the ears, we are now going again in a few days!
