Quiet Greek island for mum and single child

Hello,

We are hoping to visit a Greek island again this summer for two weeks. I'm looking for a resort for myself and my eight year old that hopefully has the following;

  • Nice sandy beaches.
-Calm waves and some shallow water. -As unspoilt as possible with Greek character. -No nightclubs, noisy bars. -A family feel, other children for her to play with. -A few shops and tavernas close by.

We've been to Almyrida in Crete twice and liked it. Also, the west coast of Corfu which was also nice, but the sea was often very rough.

If anyone has recommendations we would love to hear them, thank you.

We went to Thassos last year and absolutely loved it. Plenty of traditional tavernas, no 'sports bar' type places. We stayed in limenaria but the beach wasn't fantastic. Look at Skala Rahoni, we visited for the day and loved it there. Easy to drive round the island if you wanted to hire a car, so many unpopulated gorgeous beaches to explore! Overall still very traditionally Greek and super friendly. You fly into Kavala and then get a ferry from Keromoti (if you visit with Tui this is all done for you but i dont think would be tricky to organise for yourself) the ferry crossing was about 40 minutes I think and a lovely start to the holiday. It is definitely on our list for a repeat visit.

Someone started a best Greek Island thread a few days ago - lots of recommendations on that!

Skiathos Princess Resort in Agia Paraskevi is pretty much what you’re after. It’s very geared up for families and near a sandy beach.

Psiren, thanks so much, that's actually one of the places that has been recommended. Did you have a package deal? We normally find a self catering apartment on our own, and separate flights, but can't see that much on Booking.com. Has anyone got any recommendations for where to find a self catering apartment, hopefully with a shared pool. Thank you.

We did a package with Tui. As far as I am aware they are the only operator that fly into Kavala direct. You can fly into Thessaloniki with other airlines but then I think its a good 90 minutes or so by taxi/car to the port. I just looked on booking.com and some decent options came up for Limenas which is the 'capital' of Thassos. It's a lovely town and still close to beaches so might be worth looking at. I joined a couple of Facebook groups, you might get some good recommendations from there? Just search Thassos and they should come up.
