Booked somewhere that was perfect but then in the small print (After you have booked) it says the reception will be shut after I arrive so I need to find somewhere else.

Need one room for the 17th to the 20th of August, preferably with air con and I need a 24 hour reception.
I have narrowed the area down to around Checkpoint Charlie and this seems to have good transport links, is central and I can still walk to a lot of places.

Please, any ideas?? No more than £400.

The Scandic Potsdamer would fit what you're looking for and would be well under your budget. Scandic Berlin Potsdamer Platz. It's a 15 minute walk to checkpoint charlie and you can check in anytime from 4pm.

Are you sure they don't have any way of booking you in after hours? Eg a night porter?

We booked the Hotel Indigo East Side Gallery for a trip that was cancelled due to COVID so never went. I can't remember anything about the cost or reception arrangements but it was near Checkpoint Charlie.

@bridgetjonesmassivepants which hotel was it OP?

HollidaySunshine · 04/05/2025 07:58

Usually they gave a system that you can use after hours

MoreChocPls · 04/05/2025 08:08

What hotel are you staying in as they must have security of some sort?

MoveOnTheCards · 04/05/2025 08:13

We stayed in the Hilton Berlin on Mohrenstrasse and got a good deal on the room rate. It was about 15/20mins walk from Checkpoint Charlie, 10mins from the Brandenburg Gate and within 20mins of the main museums.

It's the Wilde apartments.Every other branch they have has a 24 hour reception, just not Berlin!

I'll have a look at the suggested hotels, thank you.

Booking . Com offer a filter for 24 hour reception.

MoreChocPls · 04/05/2025 08:35

Have you actually asked the hotel how to check in late? Loads of people must arrive later than 10pm.

MoreChocPls · 04/05/2025 08:38

If you look at Tripadvisor, there are a few comments about a local concierge who lets you in after 10. Stop panicking and speak to the hotel. Can’t understand why you didn’t do this first.

JazzyBBBG · 04/05/2025 13:12

Hotel Indigo by Alexander Platz is really nice. Further down than you mention but great for Museum Island, markets and where the tours start.

Uphighseesky · 04/05/2025 19:36

@bridgetjonesmassivepants I emailed the hotel in German, got a fast and friendly reply. You just have to inform them of your late arrival and they will let you know how to access your room.

GozerTheGozerian · 04/05/2025 20:46

We stayed at the Adina which was a short walk to Checkpoint Charlie. They’re a good chain and it had a pool.

bridgetjonesmassivepants · 04/05/2025 21:01

MoreChocsPls, because their helpline didn't open till the next morning and their chat bot was useless.

All sorted now, concierge will let me in.
