Best place to go on my own with a 3 and 1 year old

I’m thinking of taking my 3 and 1 year old away for a few weeks over the summer. My husband is working so I’ll be by myself for most of the time (he might have a week of work from home when he could join us, but he’ll still be working during the day).

I’d like somewhere where the kids can enjoy nature, we can potter around nice little towns, go to parks or beaches, maybe do the odd day trip.
I’m happy to hire a car and drive, I’m also happy to do Air BnB (or similar) or a cheapish hotel/apartment.

Firstly, am I mad? I know it’s going to be hard work but it’s the last opportunity I’ll have before going back to work next year.

Secondly, where would you choose? I could do anywhere in Europe or potentially go further afield. Ideally I’d like sunny but not too hot weather and a fairly relaxed and not too busy location.

France? Depending on where you are in the UK you could drive yourself there. The tunnel is great - half an hour sitting in your own car and you are in France. Or ferry obviously. You could drive across from Calais to Brittany over a couple of days, or stay in the Normandy area. The weather will be similar to the UK so might be hit and miss. Or go further down but obviously that will involve longer in the car.

You could do Eurocamp (although I'd recommend booking direct with the sites as usually cheaper)- good for kids your ages with pools, playgrounds etc. Or, as you say Airbnb it.

Lots of people on here recommend Netherlands too.
