Your favourite Greek island?

Just interested to know what your favourite Greek island is and why?

We’ve done Rhodes (loved it) & we’re doing Zakynthos this year.

Lesvos, so beautiful, such friendly people.

There are so many beautiful Greek islands but recent visits to Aegina, Serifos, Symi and Milos have all been absolutely wonderful - as was Asos on Kefalonia. Can’t really go wrong on the smaller islands.

Agree with the Syros and Naxos votes, but I’m going to throw Koufinisia into the mix. A tiny island with spectacular beaches and a buzzing little Chora.

Naxos 2nd vote

Crete. I've been to a lot of Greek islands, and find some of the smaller ones a bit one dimensional, so to speak. But Crete's more like an entire country. Three mountain ranges, three cities, so many different climates and landscapes, deep and enduring cultural, musical and literary traditions...it's got a proper soul.

Kefalonia, then Crete

I love Paris and also Lipsi but ador the North East of Corfu . Have visited multiple islands big and small .

Spetses, accessible by ferry from Athens. Amazing place. If you want easier to get to but stilll with a “feel”, then Matala in Crete.

Samos for me. Lovely and peaceful, nice blend of history and archeology to explore.

Pythagorio, the tunnel of eupalinos, the mountain villages...

Loved Rhodes.

Amorgos,Anti-Paros.Have been to numerous Greek Islands,big and tiny,there isn’t one I haven’t loved.

Nothing like arriving to an Island on a ferry.

Symi is a sight to behold as the ferry draws in and Ikaria is a quintessential Greek island that doesn’t see a lot of tourists compared to other islands. Tilos is also small and pretty.

I love the Greek islands especially Corfu and skiathos. The only one I really didn't enjoy was kefalonia, it didn't have the charm of some of the other islands. I aso agree with a pp worst food we have ever had in Greece and the islands.

I've got a very soft spot for Sifnos.

I’ve been to Santorini, kefalonia, Skiathos, Skorpios, Paxos, Lefkada, Crete, Zakynthos but our favourite by far is North East Corfu. It’s just lovely. We stay in Kassiopi and have been for the last six years.

Love this thread. Greece is so beautiful. Heading to Naxos for the first time this summer. So far of all the islands I would say Paxos has the prettiest towns and Lefkada the best beaches. The Mani peninsula was breathtakingly beautiful, and I really want to visit the Pelion. Would love to visit all the islands ❤️

We went to Aegina and Kalymnos back in the late 1980’s - before Aegina got an airport. We loved both islands but Aegina does stick in my memory for some reason. Since then we have been to Cyprus many times and Rhodes once. We’re heading back to Rhodes next week and have booked Kefalonia for September.

@countdowntonap yes it's amazing, I agree. When we were there 10 years ago I coulnd't get over how there were pristine beaches with aquamarine water and not a soul on them! For me it's a 3 day stay, 4 tops though.

This year I'm off to some of the less visited Dodecanese - Samos, Patmos and Leros.

I'm going to Greece for the first time in about 25 years this summer having spent some of my childhood living there. I visited a lot of the islands when I lived there but the ones that stand out for me were Mykonos, Skiathos and Kos.

Delighted to see Naxos mentioned a few times on here as that's where we're going after 2 days in Athens. Any recommendations on particular areas of Naxos would be welcome!

@CoffeeChocolateWine Personally, I like to stay in Naxos town. It’s fantastic at night, and there’s a very easy to reach bus by day. Hire a car to explore the mountain villages.
