DH refuses to go abroad

I've had a small amount of money received and would love us to go abroad next year, me DH and our 3 children. When I mentioned it my DH was a bit reserved and when pushed he said that he wasn't keen to go abroad at the minute because of all the plan crashes happening at the moment? Is this a genuine thing I'm not aware of or is he being paranoid? He can be a bit of a conspiracy theorist so I'm not sure if something has been said/hinted at but I'm not very happy about it as it seems like such a weird reason not to go. For context, we've been abroad a few times, before kids together and when we had the 2 kids, so I know it's not that as we've always had a nice time away. What are people's thoughts on this?

Maybe he’s just generally feeling anxious about flying?

He's never had a fear before, hence why I'm a bit puzzled with this information he's given me.

Just to Spain!

Yo uh could get the long ferry to Spain but equally there is no logical reason for him to be afraid of flying. It’s much safer than driving and I presume he does that? I know phobias are not rational but you should try to understand the extent of his fear / phobia etc.

My husband hates flying. We take the car on a ferry, Eurostar, or leave him at home and fly. He is being ridiculous about flying but there are ways you can travel abroad without dragging him on a plane.

I’m also not keen on flying - but I appreciate it’s a ‘me problem’ so drug myself up and go! (Also I really like going on holiday).

Could you have a look at travelling by train? I think you could probably get a train down to the Costa Brava area, EuroStar to Paris and change there? Or ferry over to Northern Spain?

Isthere something else he would like to spend the money on so is shooting down your idea?

Sounds like he’s just anxious. I hate flying but it’s the safest mode of transport. I’ve done 6 flights all in the last 2 months to France and Italy . All been fine.

I've not heard of any increase in incidents.

Can you go on a cruise? That way you can still go abroad without flying.

If he says no to that as well I think I'd be taking the kids alone!

There are plane crashes happening, but they're in the US, because the idiot Trump and his cosplay government have got rid of any air traffic controllers who weren't white and male.

It's not something I would worry about for an instant in Europe!

If he's never had a problem before then it may be an excuse. Perhaps he thinks you should be doing something else with the money you received.

Think you've got it, he mentioned something about America, well we won't be going til next year but he either comes or doesn't! Everything in life is a risk, and we won't be going to America! Hoping England to Spain should be safe enough!
