2.5 days in Copenhagen

Going to Copenhagen with our two kids (6 and 9)- I've been reading up and the sights to try to plan our but feeling a bit spoilt for choice! Curious what others have enjoyed (or conversely, recommend giving a pass). We are staying near Tivoli Gardens and the train station. If the weather is nice we hope to spend a lot of time outside at playgrounds and wandering around but you just never know so want to have some rainy day options lined up too. This is what we are loosely thinking:

Day 1- arrive late AM, drop off bags and head to Tivoli for afternoon
Day 2: train to Rosklide for Viking Museum. TBD after we return
Day 3: Rosenberg Castle/King's Garden, Round Tower, maybe Christiansborg or Amelianborg Palace?

Figure we will also do a 1hr canal tour one day but seems we can play that by ear. Also, is Rosklide worth the detour? Alternatively I was considering a museum in town (Experimentarium or National Musum).

We have been a couple of times.. experimentariam was incredible.. the kids loved it so much. Wished there was somewhere like it in London.. the bubble and water area were hugely popular. It was a decent train ride out though and quite a long walk from the station.. if you only have 2.5 days I am not sure it would be worth it… perhaps if rainy all the time?. tivoli itself you have to go to.. incredible at night as so beautiful (and I am not a huge theme park fan) round tower was also fun for the kids to climb up.. but just walking around.. getting boat to the little mermaid and castle there also definitely one to do!

I think you have a good plan!

Tivoli is great!
Experimentarium is great too.

Roskilde is a beautiful city, with an interesting cathedral.
I have never been to the Viking Ship Museum, but I have heard good things about it.

All the castles are worth seeing. Rosenborg Castle is a bit different from the others.

Lykke på rejsen!
