Flying into Vancouver - best time to arrive

I'm taking a trip to Vancouver next month and I've got a few choices of flight times.

I can't decide whether it's better to arrive at midday and have an afternoon of daylight, or later in the evening (8pm) so i can go straight to bed and attempt to sleep in past 3am.

Any thoughts/advice?

I’d say afternoon and walk in the daylight as that will help reset your body clock. Stay awake as late as you can and then bed

8pm sounds good, but by the time you’ve cleared immigration, picked up bags and got to your accommodation it’s going to be closer to 10pm and you will no longer know who you are, and won’t be able to feel your feet (or maybe that’s just me).

I prefer to arrive in Canada/USA mid to late afternoon so there’s time to get to your accommodation in daylight, have a short walk and have something to eat before bed. Up at 3 isn’t too bad. Read, eat snacky breakfast arranged the night before and then you’re ready for the first day as soon as it’s vaguely light.

Massive Canadian breakfast for your lunch at 9am. What’s not to like about that?

Early/mid afternoon option for me. An evening arrival sounds fine in principle, but if you suffer any delays, the day becomes a very long one.

Nothing worse, from my own experience, of falling into bed at 10pm PDT , after having eaten late, to then be wide awake 4 hours later with jet lag

Thanks, I've gone for a flight that lands just gone 3. I'm in a nice hotel so hopefully can get there and stay awake for dinner, if I'm up early I can use the pool which opens at 6am

When we went a few years ago we landed in the afternoon. By the time you get away from the airport and into the city and checked in, that takes up a chunk of time. We went for a walk and had a meal then went to bed to reset for the next day. It worked out well and I didn't feel too jet lagged this way.

Have you been there before? I loved Vancouver. I'd love to go back!

I arrived about 8pm and simply made my way to the hotel and had some food then bed

I've been a few times, but when I lived in the states so not had to consider the jet lag before. This is a short trip for work with a few days tacked on. 6 days total
