TURKEY IN AUGUST - HEAT

Hi all
after life saving surgery I really am desperate to go abroad for a couple of weeks with my husband and primary aged kids. The only place I can seem to afford (where we won’t all be squashed in a room, there’s 5 of us) is Turkey. I’d love to go, but just want some views on the heat. All we want to do is swim and go on some boat trips and explore a little - nothing too strenuous. Looking at a self catering apartment with a pool and air con in each room.
have you been at this time of year? Is it totally miserable in the heat? Or would you go back again?

would really appreciate your help.

We did it a couple of summers ago and it was lovely. We were very lucky though as we arrived just after a heatwave had subsided. So temps were about 35-36 rather than 42-43. But I do like hot weather.

If It is very hot, just tailor your day so that you are up at the pool/beach early morning, back to room for afternoon siesta, then back out again once the temperature drops. Just don’t expect to be by the pool all day, every day if a heatwave kicks in.

I’ve been in July and August and it was very hot, but the hotel was well set up to manage this- great air con and more permanent type gazebos around the pool area for shade.

If you’re worried about the heat then Turkey in August isn’t the place to go!

There are plenty of places across Spain and Greece that have 2 bedroom apartments if that’s what you’re looking for (?) that will be slightly cooler than Turkey. Off the top of my head look at Tui magic life and Sensatori hotels as a starting point as lots of these have larger, multi room family rooms - we’ve stayed at a few and they’ve always been good.

Jet2 also have lots of good self catering apartments in Tenerife etc that might be worth a look.

I went to Turkey in August 20 years ago and still remember the scorching heat! You'll be fine just don't plan any excursions as you'll be stuck on a sweltering coach then have to walk round a load of sites with no shade rationing a bottle of water.

We will be there in August. Have air con and will spend a lot of time in the sea. Last time we went I remember the pool being a bit like a warm bath with the sea more refreshing. That was also August.

Thank you for your replies! Hot is fine… we camp in the dordogne in tents in august with No air con so we are good with ‘very hot’. We just jump in the river!
I saw someone say it was 46 degrees plus and that just sounds painful to me but I’ve never experienced that kind of heat so I just wondered how others found it.
