Is £300 for the whole weekend or just getting there and staying? we did 4 nights in Venice last November for £400 for both of us flights and hotel and definitely wasn't the cheapest, could you ring around and ask friends family to donate some spending money?

Also have a look at expedia.co.uk as that is where we have booked both our city stays and have found them very good and helpful.

Thanks............they really are broke, it would be a good idea if we the family all gave them £25 each, that would be an extra £125!

Thanks for the suggestions, trouble is I know they have their heart set on somewhere like Venice but the purse strings just wont stretch! If I could afford it Id send them, they have always been so supportive to me, now with Dh illness, helping with my trio, and when my son died, need to win the lotto!
