Hi all, DH and I have booked a holiday to Kos (Greece) for ourselves and our DCs (22 months and 3 months). We've flown a few times abroad when DS1 was under 1 so I'm not too worried about our newborn/know how to keep them calm during the 3.5h flight but what about our now toddler? Any great tips on ensuring a reasonably pleasant flight? Just to add we've booked him his own seat and have upgraded all of them to those with extra legroom

Make sure your extra legroom seats aren't emergency exit rows!

Tablet and headphones. But leave it packed for as long as possible, if he's happy with toys or books, use those as long as possible.

Most airports have somewhere to fill a water bottle after security.

If if potty trained... pull ups/nappy for the flight.

Are you sure they can sit in the extra legroom seats? Might be an emergency row. I find it makes kids just want to jump down into the space rather than sit in their actual seat.

Screens with headphones and age appropriate games, a couple of programmes downloaded onto them will see you through the bulk of the flight. Then the obvious colouring books etc

Yes there were rows we couldn't book due to them both being infants but it's a big plane with a large section of extra legroom seats so only a couple of them are emergency exits

Take plenty of snacks! If your toddler likes any videos/programmes, download some episodes. DC1 used to love building duplo towers at that age, so when we flew with her when she was 2 we took a little bag of duplo blocks and a base board. Kept her going for a good while! And play doh.

We also had extra legroom seats and found it useful because DC could stand and use the seat as a table for the duplo. Don’t forget spare clothes and plenty of nappies, the altitude always seemed to trigger poo with my DC!

We flew with twin toddlers. It was fine. Snacks, books, things to fiddle with - no devices (just didn’t have them at the time) and gave them our full attention.
