Active holidays?

We’re booking our summer holiday and I’m looking for somewhere active for our preteens. They’re quite sporty but also would like other children for them to play with. Open to all kinds of options, but has to be Europe.

Anyone done anything amazing that their preteens loved?

I quite like the idea of finding cool summer camps that they could go to in the daytime, or things we can do together.

I’ve just booked a holiday in Omis Croatia with Greenworld Holidays, with our 10 and 12 year old. It includes things like kayaking, rafting, canyoning as well as relax days. They get great reviews so 🤞 the kids like it, the activities are for all so we adults will have to throw ourselves into it!! Greenworld can also point you towards which of their trips/dates have similar age kids booked on.

There are similar options with other companies listed via Families worldwide or Responsible Travel.

Last year we did a holiday in the Alps (Morzine) where we did a lot of activities - albeit a bit less water based as it was colder- but it wasn’t organised so we booked it all ourselves and didn’t really meet other kids for ours to hang out with. But there are a few companies doing group organised trips in the Alps eg Alpine Elements or Mountain Activity Holidays. I looked at Alpine elements but they wouldn’t tell me the ages of kids booked on which put me off as it could end up being all much older teens.

Another option is of course Mark Warner or Neilson but it is quite packagey with lots of the meals and flights included so not much flexibility.

Or there are various places in Greece that can offer sailing or windsurfing or mixed watersports (eg Beyond Beach or Nikiana Beach Resort) - bit like a much smaller Mark Warner set up and more watersports focused.

Watching for further ideas as our kids definitely need more than just a beach or pool now!!

Sorry that was a bit stream of consciousness. Hope it makes sense!
