Family holiday 2 adults 2 children age 16 and 11.
Looking for recommendations of a hotel with twin beds and if possible interconnecting rooms.
Thank you 😊

Budget? Area?

chesschessandmorechess · 27/04/2025 15:58

Easy on area, would prefer to be able to walk to some sights though. Budget would be no more than 1k per night.

We stayed at the Best Western Premier Empire State, it has double Queen rooms. Not sure about connecting but I booked two rooms and we were on the same floor.

Should be well within your budget.

Good central location - we walked north to Central Park and the museums one day and south to the Statue of Liberty cruises the other day. Lots of walking but you see loads.

ETA: there’s not many rooms on each floor, we were just across the hall from each other.

That sounds great, I'll have a look at that hotel. Thank you @SabrinaThwaite

Rooms aren’t huge (but plenty big enough for a few nights), we found them clean and comfortable. And you really are just a few minutes walk from the Empire State Building.

We stayed at The Conrad which is a stone's throw from the WTC and right on the river. We could walk to so many places from there, and it was really peaceful at night. We had a room with 2 doubles and a separate lounge with sofa bed but we saw quite a few people staying there with kids so I'd imagine they've got family rooms. We booked via BA and it was a really good price, way cheaper than if we'd booked direct even with Hilton points.

@chesschessandmorechess

You may wish to consider renting an apartment with 2 bedrooms? I’d avoid AirBnB as some tenants (illegally) sublet their apartments in NYC.

However you’ll be fine with VRBO (Vacation Rentals By Owner)

Hope this helps!

Mint House at 70:Pine St. We had a two bedroom, two bathroom apartment with a cool kitchen and living room. Awesome coffee shop for breakfast on the ground floor of the building or lots of bakeries close by. In the financial district, two minutes walk from the river and right next to Wall St subway station. Within your budget in the lead up to Christmas, so I’m sure would be comfortably so in less of a high season.

We are just back from staying at the Casablanca hotel in a mini suite. 2 double beds plus an interconnecting door to a double pull out sofa bed where my 16 yr old slept. My 12 yr old son slept in the double bed beside us. We loved it there. Minutes from TS which was so busy. The hotel itself is a little oasis of quietness. On the second floor serves a plain breakfast- toast, bagels, hard boiled eggs cereal, pastries, fruit
But the major advantage it serves tea and coffee plus bottled water, fruit and pastries all day. Yes all day . Some families ordered in chinese and they ate it in the dining area ( on 2nd floor ) it meant after a long day sight seeing, me and DH could chill with a coffee and a pastry while the almost teens chilled in the suite. Its a great little hotel. Staff couldn't be nicer. We ate in Tony di Napoli just next door . Big platters of Italian food which served easily 2-3 people per platter. So buzzy, so NYC. Full of families
The hotel is a 4 minute walk from theatres with one right across the road . Minutes from the subway too.
Just great there. I neededa suite plus breakfast at a reasonable rate ( well for new york ) so booked it through booking. Com 10 months previous to going .
It's so close to Bryant park too which I absolutely loved
