we have 4 paying seats with an airline, do u know can we take 3 suitcases cus i wanted to put the childrens into a suitcase of their own between them, rather than 1 each.

There is probably a weight allocation for the luggage of each paying passenger.
Have you checked on the website of the airline you are flying with?

I think they take the weight allocation and spread it across all the luggage.
We (me, dd & dh) flew a few months ago (with Thomson), we had a 20kg per person allocation & took one (25kg) suitcase between us.
They marked it as 'heavy' but we didn't have to pay extra. Can't see it being a problem for you, unless it's ridiculously heavy.

30 kg as far as i know, but if my childs suitcase is heavier between 2 do u think they would allow that rather than me having to split it into 2 cases and carrying extra

you have to have each case within the weight limit as far as i know....although the airline website will tell you

we are flying with monarch and have had to pay for each piece of luggage. i think the limit is 20 kg, possibly 30

Whilst weight is still a factor, you may be limited on the number of cases too. BA have definitely started to do this as I found out when I tried to take 3 small items to a conference and I had no actual luggage!

Lulumama · 17/05/2008 13:32

we booked our flights on line, and have to specify and pay for each piece of luggage when we booked, so i paid for 6 ! to include the carseats. want to be safe not sorry !

Pavlovthecat · 17/05/2008 13:35

Depending on where you are flying I think.

When we went to USA with DD who did not have a full fare seat, we had a weight allowance each, and so did she.

We were also allowed two cases each as full fare paying adults. She was allowed one.

So I would guess that each paying fare would get a full allowance regardless of age?

Pavlovthecat · 17/05/2008 13:37

Also, DDs weight allowance was not including car seat and stroller. She could have these additionally was flying BA.
