Summer holiday with 2 kids and 3k

I’m restricted to the school holidays but would like a sunny holiday (ideally half board) with nice pools and a short walk to a beach and town. DC are 11 and 13 and like to do a bit of sight seeing or museum type outings as well as playing in pool. Any ideas? I like the look of Portugal but unsure.

We’ve rented a house in mid France for about £1k/week and getting the train there, will be about another £1k. Plus hire car/ days out. Weather looks good. I don’t know where you’d get half board for your budget though sorry.

It’s only me and kids which makes it cheaper. I’m terrified of driving abroad and really wish I had a proper adult with me!

Go on the Tui website and have a search for packages. Try different dates. The end of the holidays is often the cheapest time to go. Leave the destination as 'Any' and see what you come up with. You can sort the results by price.

Will you consider May and October half terms? They're both normally cheaper than summer but still sunny, albeit not hot.

I can’t do May, October would be fine but we would like nice weather

That 3k budget: For how many nights, what board basis, what does it include or exclude?

Ok. Worth looking at the Canaries and Cyprus in particular then. Possibly the southern Greek islands and Turkey, depending on how bothered you are about going somewhere that's winding down for the season. There's a good amount of culture to be had in Crete, and the eastern side is likely to be warmer than the western.

Portugal would be more risky weather wise at that time of year if you want to do beach and pool. Lots of the Algarve would tick your boxes if you went in summer... but much dearer then of course.

I tend to find Easyjet cheapest but worth looking at all the major package holiday companies.

Cyprus and Canaries sound good. We went to Corfu last year.
I’d happily do 5 nights to keep cost down.
