Croatia recommendations

HalfasleepChrisintheMorning · 22/04/2025 19:15

We have decided to do a week long activity holiday in Croatia next year, near Split.
We want to add a second week of relaxation. Looking for recommendations of places to stay- locations?
Hotels- 4 star plus?
Villas with pools?
We are 2 families- we have a teen DS and they have 3 teen daughters,
Budget flexible at this point

Last year we combined 3 nights in Dubrovnik with 7 nights on Hvar island which was lovely. Regular fast cat ferries from Split to Hvar - booking required but you can take suitcases easily.

We stayed here which was nice. There were many nice hotels walking distance to town. Very chilled area, lots of great boat trips around the islands available and the island is lovely.

Hotel Amfora | Hvar Grand Beach Resort | Sunčani Hvar

Book your stay at the Amfora Hotel nestled in a secluded Hvar cove. Unwind on private beaches, in spas, and amidst spectacular cascading pools.

I second the above hotel, Amfora in Hvar. We stayed there a few years ago and loved it. Short walk to the town with lots of lovely restaurants. Staff, food etc all great.

If you want self catering, then I highly recommend Waterman Beach Village on Brac island

Cavtat a 20 min boat ride from Dubrovnik.

Watching.

We stayed at Kalomota Beach House last year and loved it - it’s on Kolocep, a tiny island near Dubrovnik. But it might be a bit quiet for teens for a week as there is literally nothing there, we were there for 4 nights in between busier bits of holiday and it was ideal for that.

I think from Split I’d look for something on Brac, Korcula or Hvar - avoiding the busy bits.

Came here to say this, beautiful place.

Agree Dubrovnik, Hvar and Korcula are all lovely. Also Plitvice national park is amazing.

This is a lovely hitel, on its own island a short private ferry from Porec. You can stay in a hitel room or a private villa in the grounds. You can have a day trip to Venice from Porec if you fancy a change too.

Sibenik is lovely. We had an Airbnb. Spacious and cheap.

Thanks all, Croatia is very expensive though isn’t it?

Yes we found it a bit pricey I’m afraid.

HalfasleepChrisintheMorning · 01/05/2025 21:27

I priced up the activity week, a second week in a hotel and flights and it came to £8k for the 3 of us!
Now looking at Thailand for similar money

Sheraton in Srebreno is fab and just a boat ride to Dubrovnik

We’re staying in a nice lodge (glorified caravan with AC) in Trogir near split for 11 nights only about £2k but flights have been pretty expensive for about £1.6k in August. Campsite looks lovely, fairly near to airport and trogir looks nice. Will hire a car and travel around. Self catering but makes it more affordable.
