how many swimming costumes would you take for kids for a holiday abroad for a week

also any advice as this has been the first time i have gone away with kids

do u find parents dress kids for day time and then something different for evening times.

i dont want to pack too much or too little

Swimsuits? To be honest, two each would be fine in my books, wash them out occasionally.

Evening? Where are you going? I would put DS in something clean for evening, but basically shorts and a t shirt, or maybe a shirt. Nothing flash and stuff he'd wear during the day.

harpomarx · 17/05/2008 00:11

blimey

just one each?

but loads of lightweight tops/shorts/dresses otherwise you have to wash 'em.

at thought of dressing kids for evening!

PeaGreene · 17/05/2008 00:16

When I say "clean", I mean "not evidently stained"

harpomarx · 17/05/2008 00:21

yes, pea, or back to front

or just cover 'em with a towel.

We've just come back from Spain for the week and I took 2 swim costumes for my dd who is 4.
I'm glad we did because the weather wasnt great so it took a while for them to dry out.

For other clothes I just packed stuff to wear in the day so literally shorts and tshirt to go over swim costume and then an evening outfit.

Where are you going?

This was our first holiday abroad too.

One thing I would say is take some warm bits too.
I ended up going out and buying jeans for dd and contemplated jumpers!

PeaGreene · 17/05/2008 09:46

I'd take a few cardigans for evening too. Can get chilly.

TBH we're taking coats to Italy as we intend to sit outside until lateish and I kknow last year we'd have been stuck without them. But we were on top of a mountain... Was better by the coast.

yeh well i have packed some hooded tops and going to take a couple of rainproof coats (rain coats)

what about the likes of pjs at home i chaneg thekids every night but am not going to take 14 pairs of pjs with me.

OP posts:
PeaGreene · 17/05/2008 09:55

14 pairs???!!! No, Can you wash them out during the day - should be warm enough for them to dry quickly. What are you staying in? Will you have somewhere to dry stuff or is it worth taking something to make a washing line?

piratecat · 17/05/2008 09:58

123... you change the dc's everynight, with fresh pj's??

wow !

def don't take the pj's!!

12345678910 · 17/05/2008 10:14

i know my husband laughs at me changing the kids every day i will take 3/ 4 pairs each and can wash them out as u say pea greene.

we r staying self catering and their is a balcony so thats a gud idea will take something to make a wee line

the last time we were on holiday we got a cheap deal and there was a washing machine in appartment bliss, not this time but i ca guarantee it.

Its a good idea to keep one cossie for the beach and one for the pool. Sometimes the sand marks the cossie. If it does you can throw it away at the end of the holiday.

I always take stuff to make a washing line and pegs. However there has always been a line already there. The pegs are always rubbish, they get brittle in the sun so take some with you.

Have a lovely holiday!
