Playa Del Carmen

Anyone been? Is it nice? We have kids aged 10 &12 and want a nice inclusive with stuff to do. European AI (of a great standard) seem to be mostly in Greece / Turkey / Spain and we've been to those quite a bit so fancied a change.
We're looking at summer holidays so I'm aware we're likely to get some rain and the seaweed could be bad, so we want a hotel with good pools in case the beach is out of action. Recommendations much appreciated. Thank you!!

The Xcaret parks around playa del carmen are some of the best in the world. Definitely lots to keep you busy.

Personally I would stick to winter / Easter for Mexico and Europe in the summer.

It doesn't make sense to take a long haul flight to hurricane zone when the weather in Europe is perfect. Go in the winter when the weather is perfect there and cold here.

I've done this and it's perfect for children. I've found Mexican AIs are of a higher standard than European ones - possibly as they are catering for the American market too. Lots to do and very safe.

I agree with you in principle. Unfortunately the only time of year we can get to go away every year is either summer holidays or autumn half term (which would be worse for hurricane risk) so really it's summer or nothing for us. We do love Europe. Just fancied something different really.
