I’ve seen mixed reviews. Has anyone been lately, and would you recommend?

is it crazy expensive? I like the idea of chilling in a beach club and some shopping and pottering for a few days -

Yes it’s crazy expensive, but we found Croatia worse (£11 for a large beer)
the shopping is good, the weather is good
its full of Russians
some hotels will do a club room where you get breakfast, afternoon tea & evening canapés and happy hours which is worth it
