Puy du Fou - accommodation tips

We are heading to Puy du Fou in June for two days. I got emotion and parc passes, now wish I had booked an onsite hotel, none currently available, just to allow our teens stay out later, and bring our smaller kids home.
I have a back up campsite provisionally booked a few km away from the park but just wanted to check if anyone else has stayed close by, any particular recommendations/tips and if anyone knows if cancellations come up for on site accommodation very often?

We've stayed on-site in before and it was really worth it to be able to just pootle back and forth to the park as we pleased. We did have to book it a long time in advance though. I don't know if cancellations come up regularly but it's definitely something worth pursuing.

Take some headphones with you - if your download the PdF app you can listen to all of the show narrations in English whilst watching the shows, which was great for the younger kids.
