Crete Sandy beaches

We took our first trip to Greece last year and had 10 nights on Rhodes. We absolutely loved it, and would like to do another holiday later this year (mid September) but would like to try another island. We are considering Crete, as being quite far south, hopefully will have the same great weather we had last year.

One aspect that we missed on Rhodes was a lovely golden sandy beach, ours was pebble (which was lovely but tough to walk on!)

So can anyone recommend which are the loveliest sandy beaches on Crete? And if anyone can recommend an Adults Only AI Hotel that on a sandy beach that would be even better.
TIA

I stayed in Rethymon and recall the beach was sand. We went end of Oct, plus I don't sunbake, so never actually spent time sleeping on sun loungers, but pretty sure it was sand.

Our hotel was nearby. It wasn't specifically adults only, but I don't recall seeing a child there. It had a roof top pool and a lovely garden area to have breakfast if not sitting inside.

Theres a big sandy beach just along the coast from Chania with plenty of hotels, many adults only. I stayed in one and it was lovely, but tbh I prefered other parts of Crete. The still agean blue waters off the rocks on the other side of the island were amazing. And I stayed in Rethymon for a few days which was also fabulous, but did not beach there. So much to see and do on Crete, hire a car and travel around.

One of my favourites is Falassarna but one of the reasons I like it is because there are no big AI resorts, instead its apartments, guest houses and smaller hotels.

I’m not averse to a smaller hotel without the AI side of things as long as it’s within walking distance to a nice town/area to eat out in the evening.

Thanks for the suggestions so far - I will definitely start looking at those.

Thanks again and if what I’ve posted here throws up some more suggestions on hotels I’ll be forever grateful!
