My wife booked this year's holidays but sadly died in January she booked online and when I contacted them I was put through to India they wouldn't speak me at first as I was not the lead passenger and insisted on speaking to her even though they were told she had died eventually after a lot of time and cost they made me lead passenger the holidays were booked for June August and December they removed my wife from the December holiday but not the other 2 the holidays at the Siroco in Lanzarote when I questioned why my wife was still on the first 2 holidays they stated that every apartment had 2 beds and didn't cater for single occupancy though that's what I have in December I was over at the Siroco at the beginning of this month as we have stopped with 4 or 5 times a year and they stated that our bookings were fine though surprised that Pam had not been removed from the 2 earlier bookings and stated that they welcome solo travelers and it was Easyjet that were wrong and I agree they just want pray on my loss they tried to get me to cancel both holidays and rebook I am 74 and can do without this hassle I have tried to do it nicely but now have contacted Martins money tips and ripoff Britain so I will see that happens also if my wife's is paid for and they try to resell it as a no show there will be problems

Nice to see Mumsnet being so compassionate today .. I can feel the warmth for this 74 yr old widow who’s just lost his wife and probably feeling a bit vulnerable .

But some on here are more bothered that he can’t use punctuation ffs …

Just remember this could be YOUR parent one day or even yourself !!

I was just about to post something similar.

i’m incredulous at some of these responses.

Its as if no one else has ever found themselves in an unusual situation that is bound with bureaucracy just at a time when they’re at their lowest and with the least capacity to navigate illogical processes.

OP, I hope you get Martin Lewis or another campaigner to pick this up and help you resolve it.

The schools mean girls are here! OP lost their wife less than 3 months ago. Hope your posts made you pleased with yourselves.

I don’t think it’s mean to provide actionable advice. Unfortunately the outlets OP mentioned are highly unlikely to be interested in the situation because he hasn’t tried and exhausted obvious steps like travel insurance. I don’t think it’s kind to encourage him to keep firing off random complaints.

I suspect the OP doesn't have travel insurance (or didn't declare pre-existing conditions) and this is the issue. I hope I'm wrong.

Apologies but It isn’t entirely clear to me what you want to see happening in this situation, could you maybe put it into a few points and Mumsnetters can then see if they can provide some helpful suggestions

Condolences on your loss

Don’t be RIDICULOUS!!!

I actually meant I was being sarcastic as anyone asking a polite question of OP was called "mean girls"
Apologies for the lack of clarity and if you thought I was genuinely having a go at you

I think you probably should have shoved some "awww Hun" in there or something.
Since when did asking a question become mean? Probably at the same time as #bekind

Edited

Since when did asking a question become mean

Exactly since when did asking a question and offering advice become MEAN!!

Ok, a misunderstanding then😂
