Anyone recommend a decent car hire company please? Flying into Palma, Mallorca.
Thx!

We've been find with Centauro or Hiper Car in Mallorca, although this has been a few years ago (pre COVID). Don't go anywhere near Goldcar or Record and make sure you video the car on pick up and collection.

Also read the Moneysaving Expert guide to foreign car hire and be especially mindful of their advice on insurance and fuel policies.

There are many good companies — the problems start when people take the cheapest deals with a high excess, or where you have to buy a full tank of fuel (see the advice given by PP). And then there are scams where they invoice multiple customers for pre-existing damage that they didn't check before leaving the airport (at midnight), and that comes out of your deposit. There are companies that sell insurance for the deposit, but I've always been put off by the list of paperwork that they require — I'd be afraid of forgetting something in my hurry to get to the airport for my flight. So for me a no-deposit, no-excess deal is the way to go for, even if it is about €15–20 per day more.

Also do check your flight arrival time. Many places close after 11pm. Some offer an unattended pickup, others don't.

With all that said, I have found Wiber to be pretty good. With their "all-inclusive" option you have no excess and no deposit. Plus if you pay in advance by debit card and upload your driving licence, they give you a QR code that lets you get the key from a box, so you don't have to wait at a desk to sign paperwork. There is a shuttle from the terminal which takes about 5 minutes to get to their office.

We used Wiber last year and they were fab! Quick bus ride to their offsite office, collected the key and off We went. We had the all inclusive option, for total peace of mind. I also took my own child car seat so cant comment on any we hired if you need/want that, but they did have boosters/seats available for the minibus! On drop off we just handed them the key back and waited for the shuttle! We paid a fairly reasonable price of around 230 euro for a ford focus. May half term dates, 1 week hire.
