Madrid - hotels

Any recommendations for a 3 or 4 night stay in Madrid, first time visitor. Thinking central or a neighbouring central area. Will be late May and I have noticed some hotels have rooftop small pool and deck areas which might be nice for a bit of relaxing late afternoon after lots of walking and sightseeing, however I think some of them you can buy a day pass to visit? Ideally modern, clean, for a solo female. Budget around 150 per night although could stretch for something with great recommendations

We stayed at the Porcel Ganivet a few years ago. It has a small roof top pool, which did get a bit raucous with groups on occasions. But it was a very pleasant hotel and close to Plaza Mayor. We have since stayed at the Eurostars Book Hotel, which we preferred. No pool there, but our room had a large balcony, which was lovely.

We stayed at Porcel Ganivet, very central, rooms had recently been done up, small pool on the roof.
We didn’t have meals there but very close to centre, by walking straight up to Plaza Mayor you will pass lots of restaurants and most things are within easy walking distance.

Sorry, just saw @Pusspot already mentioned the same hotel

@Mirren22 we also had breakfast there, which was really good. If you like shopping, there were several shoe shops on the road leading up to Plaza Mayor. We also found an area with several restaurants quite near the hotel. Can’t remember the name right now. It was less touristy than other places.
