Hi, we’re going to Majorca next week, self catered - can anyone tell me how much cash I should take? 2 adults, 2 teens, 7 days.

will have cards too but not sure how much cash I should have on me?

Not much, just enough for what you'll need for the first evening's tips etc. Withdraw more while you're there if you need it, but there's no need to carry lots of cash with you.

Do you have cards that can be used abroad without a surcharge? Probably too late now but I got a starling account just to use freely abroad (depending who you bank with you may be able to get it changed to use abroad - hsbc do a “global” account that you can set up immediately and add the card to your apple/google wallet so you don’t have to wait for anything to be delivered)

I never take cash anymore, I use a travel debit card

You can just use your bank debit or credit card. A little bit of cash for the odd tip, but not masses. Get it out of an ATM when you are there, or just draw some Euros from your bank or post office before going.

Or you can use something like a Monzo card too. We also have one of those.

I found it hard in some places to get a withdrawal that didn't give a terrible rate or charge you, so know which machine you are using and what the rates are especially some in supermarkets shopping centres or main tourist areas. Perhaps attached to a bank maybe better
